In other sad news, it seems that we will not be playing flag football this year. Trying to get a team together that consistently shows up every week just got to be too much. The 3 or 4 of us that still want to play could possibly end up playing on one of the other teams in the league that needs players but we'll see how that goes. I'm a free agent, we'll see if anyone picks up my contract.
On a happier note, we finally got our couch. Here's a picture of me on it, it needs to be broken in but it's nice.

To finish, I'll throw in some recommendations like Johanna always does. I finally decided to read "Into the Wild" since the movie is coming out soon and we have like 200 copies of the book at work, but it's really good. You should read it if you haven't already. Also, the new Kanye West cd is getting alot of play on my Ipod. He's pretty much an ass but he makes good music. "Stronger" is a great song for the gym.

I KNEW there was a reason I quit reading and didn't care...unlucky for Jordan though. What did he die from?
also unlucky (but not AS unlucky) about flag football. you guys should go to another team. they'd be happy to have you...except that you might feel like "traitors" or something.
cool about the couch. couches are fun.
John Krakauer (sp?) is good.
Kanye Schmanye
I promise I'll blog again soon.
Hey, I got you a 1 year deal with a team formerly known as O'Fallon gold. They set the bar very low and most are drunk before, during, and after the game. They have agreed to give you alcohol in exchange for your services as a utility player on their team.
They also require you to be a jerk and never blame yourself for a bad play just your teamates and above all the quarterback. But if this goes well, it could catapault you to another team like "4th and Long".
I read about the death of senior Jordan on my way to somewhere the other day. my color coded "newspaper" never disappoints. I have to say, after my initial grief for his family and whatnot, i chuckled to myself for a second. It was bittersweet. bitter in that all those nerds wont be able to find out if Rand will ever break the world and sweet because i gave up on him after book 6. A decision i always thought id regret but now is more sweet than bitter.
I too am a free agent. a little banged up and rough around the edges, but willing to get the job done. i pretty much refuse to catch anything but an interception from the hands of ofallon gold though. a mans got to know his limitations. plus i gotta work every saturday in oct. whatevs.
I knew they would make a movie out of this guy. Krakauer tells a good story, but its like hes in love with the guy or something. i can see a mans desire to be alone and go off into the wilderness and all that crap, but dude, take some food with you. flaming berries. its like the cardinal rule of survival. dont eat the young berries. and what the hell is vince vaughan doing in this dinkin flicka. wiabdt is i dont have much appreciation for a trust fund, crew rowing, nantucket staying yuppie running away from mommy and daddy while starving himself in a bus. perhaps thats harsh. ok maybe he didnt row crew or visit nantucket, but he came from wealth. not riches, wealth. have you seen Factory Girl. keri segewick and everything. its the exact same story just swap new york for a bus in alaska.
why do we run from where we came from. who we are and what we were born into. why can we not accept our individual "calling" ( thats for you jon) while maintaining focus on our primary one. why cant we be like rand and long for the two rivers. home. a simpler time. friends, family, dreaming of Egwene and Nynaeve before they turned psyco, heading for the hills, aes sedai and trollocks still legends. maybe robert jordan was on to something after all. more bitter than sweet.
i knew my post would draw out a "matt comment," i really liked into the wild. and everything i've read about the movie says it's quite well done also. there is a reason people are drawn to stories like that, i think most people need to go out and see other places to appreciate what they have. and to be at peace with themselves. i will admit that chris mccandless took things to the extreme but it was an inspiring story.
as for playing with ofallon gold, in the words of cush "i just wanna play football."
and i'm totally invested in jordan's story at this point, so whoever writes the last book i'll read it. however, i won't be disappointed if every female character dies tragically in the opening chapter.
yeah its one of the few movies ive commited myself to actually see at the theater. i predict skyrocketing sales of the book and perhaps even its own kiosk. i really got on board with krakauer when i read the highly factual mormon bashing "under the banner of heaven". it was quite enlightening. at least he does his homework and i expect the film to do nothing less.
yeah, their deaths are long overdue. except in death, much like the jedi, im pretty sure an aes seadi gains more power and more story line to boot. i have no interest, i award the new writer no points and may god have mercey on his soul.
i guess thats part of why i like to go other places too. it usually makes me appreciate where i live. but the drive from the airport down 170 is pretty much a big downer. but i always miss my refrigeration and my shower that you can actually turn around in, but i dont miss lots of stuff too. and im not sure i agree with travel as a means for inner peace, but i know what you mean. i encourage any american to go beyond the two rivers and blend into another place.
