Wahoo, I mean....Bass???

Xavi and I decided to try and catch our dinner today. Xavi brought his gear over to New Town, despite the treacherous floodwaters lurking off 370, and we journeyed to the front lakes. After 20 minutes of grueling casting we hit pay dirt. Joff caught what we think was a Rock Bass. It came in at a not-at-all respectable 6 ounces (maybe). We had hoped to have fish for dinner and to sell the excess meat to Marsalla's but Shakespeares Pizza over at the Wine Bar actually sounded alot better and I'm pretty sure that Marsalla's doesn't actually buy fish caught out of the New Town lakes. So we didn't have to beat the poor little guy to death, rather we let him return to his peaceful life in the lake.

The first part of our expedition was uneventful, a couple quick hits but no takers. We switched up our lures, I opened up a Schalfly, and we even got up and walked down the shore. Xavi finally decided to walk down the lake a bit more and about 5 minutes later the fish was on the line. It really didn't put up any fight at all and I didn't have to help Xavi one bit. In terms of great experiences, I had alot more fun wakeboarding this morning behind an X2. And Xavi probably had more excitement at the 4 softball games he played today. But fishing was kinda fun. We were worried that he might shake loose since he was so small but Xavi's skills were too much for the little fish to handle.

Back on the Bus...next stop: Retirement

So, it is official. I am back on the bus, a contributing member of society (whatever that means). I have an ambiguous job with an unassuming title where I sit at my desk using my computer to make money for silly things. I think my official title is something like "Keyword Advertiser" or something like that. Regardless I sit at my desk all day staring at a computer screen.

Positives:
1. I get to listen to talk radio again. The ONLY plus side to having a 30~45 minute commute is getting to listen to these guys on the way to work:

Again, let me stress that this is the ONLY plus to a +30 minute commute. I highly recommend working within walking/biking distance of your work.

2. Health insurance and a pay check. Both of which are very nice, although I believe all insurance companies are oily little snakes, i do appreciate being paid nicely.

3. I like the diverse people. Although I believe only about 3 or 4 people in the office are "on the team", there are 3 or 4 that played for the old team but separated due to the quarterback controversy, and if I am not mistaken we have a few casual players and the rest refuse to acknowledge any sporting event at all.

4. Close proximity to Barristers (http://www.barristers-clayton.com/). Whether it is for a late lunch, or a quick dinner, Barristers is sure to be delicious. Mention me the next time you are there and you will get a free water.

5. I got a laptop. It is cool, the whole technology thing in general is pretty cool. I am for sure on the low end of the spectrum about knowing what is actually going on and how the company makes money, grows, expands, etc... But like I said we have nifty setups at work and my laptop is nice as far as laptops go.

Negatives:
1. Working in "the loop". Honestly what is the big deal about the loop? I don't understand why people like coming down to "THE loop", I dislike being badgered to sign some piece of paper that will inevitably get me telemarketer calls or junk mail. I dislike being asked for $2.00 or money in general. I dislike the edgy kids who want to go to "sunshine, weed-smell" or whatever the name of that store is. Overall I just don't get the popularity and I become more perplexed the more I sample the local eatery's (service and taste have been sub par). I am just not sold on "the loop".

2. Traffic. If a drop of water from a haywire sprinkler is hitting the road then the speed of traffic will drop at least 25mph. Likewise if a car on the side of the road has its hazards on we all need to slow down to 10mph and stare.

3. Working in front of a computer all day. I don't have a carlos computer job or a jeremy pre-soccer coach computer job. When I sit at my computer I am working. It ruins the internet for me, hence the lack of blog posting lately. I have no desire to go home and read other stuff on the internet. I am starting to loathe the internet. It is a sham and a hoax....and the company that will fund any information collecting/end of the world technology certainly rhymes with frugal.

4. I got a laptop. The downside of having a laptop is that you can take your work with you everywhere you go. I am a fan of leaving things where they need to be left. Work needs to be left at work for example. But having a laptop with all your work info doesn't help.
