No Deal!

Well...in case you missed it, the season 2 premeire of Heroes was shown last night at 8:00pm on NBC. It was entitled "4 months later" and was confusing for the new watcher who knew nothing of the Heroes universe. I however found it to be excellent and am excited for the upcoming season. If anyone would like to borrow season 1 it is available for rent from the Joff library. It is in this critic's review the best show on television. My vote for the new slogan would be "Save the soccer player...save the world." Somehow they could incorporate the global game into a show that they desire to be global, but I doubt they would be that smart.

But NBC is onto a few good things, one of which is possibly my number 2 show in "Friday Night Lights". It is a good watch, not on par with Heroes, but watchable and you don't have to be smart to watch it like you do to watch Heroes. "Friday Night Lights" season 1 is also available to rent from the Jeff library, but only disc 1 at present, until i get further along in the season.

The third good thing from NBC is Deal or No Deal. It is the perfect filler show, it requires no skill, and no knowledge (other than knowing the numbers 1-26). If you go on the NBC casting website you can see the exact specifications for the show. I think if you mention that you are a hillbilly from arkansas you will immediately be accepted. I think I could get accepted because I am married living with my parents, I may have to look into it, although I would rather get onto "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader?" however that show isn't on NBC and therefore has no relevance to this blog.

Lastly, while perusing the NBC casting website I came across this interesting gem. http://www.nbc.com/Casting/#gladiators. I can't believe it!! American Gladiators is coming back!!! This could jump up to my number 2 show if it lives up to the hype. I think Jon needs to take steroids and go try out for the show as "Glazer" the ultra mean donut maker, that way he could also get sponsorship from one of his favorite companies, "Dunkin Donuts". The whole concept works if you think about it.

I hope Mike Tirico and the other former football player are hosts of the show otherwise it will just be disappointing. Also if you watch replays of the later seasons on ESPN classic, the lady with the huge eyebrows, i hope she comes back too. But if Jon does become Glazer we should all go try out and then it would set up good storylines and add a good human interest story. But also they could use the American gladiators on Deal or no Deal, it would be great crossover.

Before I finish, I would like to note that some fathers have been combating the idea that they have fainted in the past. We report truth on the Scan2000 blog, never fair and never balanced. But always true.

First, on behalf of my father's station's affiliation, I'd like to say thanks for your loyal support to NBC.

Second, oh my gosh, the Dunkin' Donuts tie-in idea is awesome. I heard they are going trans-fat free so maybe that would be further incentive for a sponsorship. Plus, free donuts for us.

american gladiators was awesome, and i should try to get on the new one. most readers of this blog may not be aware but when i was going to chaminade we did american gladiators for homecoming week. i had to play powerball and i killed it. don't know about the dunkin donuts sponsorship but i do enjoy their donuts.

i watched the heroes season premeire and having never really watched the show before, i was confused. but it was pretty good i guess. i might have to rent season one from joffbuster. last night jo and i watched kid nation on the computer, you definetely don't need to be smart to watch it, but it was pretty entertaining. i can't wait until halfway thru the season when the kids go all lord of the flies.

my reward for surviving a dinner with the inlaws last night was 4 hours of uninterupted couch potatoing. also making this possible was that i apparently said something wrong on the car ride home and vicki wanted nothing to do with me, none the less, i got to catch up on some not so needed sitcom/reality programing. the two hour Boston Legal kept me glued to my clearest channel, yup its 30. im no shatner/spader fan but it was pretty good and ill most likely tune in next week to find out whos on top. (ah big L, so timeless)

i did flip to channel 5 a bit, but mostly saw just previews and and occasional sonic commercial with two dorks throwing tator tots at each other. i missed heros. but not on accident. i cant support this nonsense. while Lost on the other hand is going to be quite fantastic. "greys anatomy" will surely deliver and their spin off "private practice" has all the qualities of a fantastic evening melodrama. better watch the first one or youll be wondering where it all went wrong by week three. i predict that the not so subtle "sex lies and money" or whatever wont last two seasons. i wonder what that ones about. at least they come right out and say it instead of hiding behind a less descriptive name. deal or no deal is a good filler i agree. but it always boggles my mind how howie knows all those models names. its probably the most impressive thing on tv right now. king of queens is also a good inbetween show. much like the family guy and according to jim, it portrayes the relateable american family unit juxtaposed by a semi funny fat guy married to a really skinny chick. last nights episode had them faking a burgurlary on themselves so they could rid their house of the crappy aniversary gift their best friends just got them. guite clever actually. next time i get a frog from any of you bastards you can bet my house will be mysteriously robbed. hey jar, how are the elephants doing. i hear crime is on the rise in memphis. better watch out.

nbc sucks mostly because of jay leno. but they have the office and conan so its pretty much a balance. but barely because leno sucks so bad. if american gladiators came it would definately overcome their leno syndrome, but they gotta get that guy out. conan is great but i knew i stayed up too late when i returned to my faithful channel 30 and saw that no talent ass clown carson daily. hes pretty much terrible. but abc is my favorite because they dont even bother with the local news. thats awesome. its like the whole network just said, local crap, who needs it. while all the others are spending 2 hours on random deaths, road rage and meth labs, i pay can hommage to the simpsons. brilliant! i get so sick of karen foss. art holiday too. they are not welcome in my home.

the christy brinkley/chuck norris infomercial finally did the trick and sent me crawling into bed for an evening full of nightmares. if that machine will make me look like chuck norris, count me out. will it mean i have to wear cut off t-shirts and grow a red beard too. what a terrible spokesman. i did see wesley snipes endorse it though. how can you not want to be like blade.

i think jon should get on the tony little program in the privacy of his own home and then reveal himself to nbc as "panera". the bread bowl/cesar salad/bacon turkey bravo eating master of joust. youd have to grow a wicked pony tail and wear blue spandex, but it would be worth it to shoot that tennis ball machine gun thing. id watch.

how bout a little bread co session before wakeboarding tomorrow?

i predict no more tennis ball shooting on the updated gladiators, i think they might use paintball guns or something like that.
if you ever get the chance you all should check out the show "ninja warrior", i don't even know what channel it's on but we kinda got it with our basic, basic cable. i think it was g4 or something like that. anyway, it's a cool japanese show with contestants doing all these crazy hard obstacle courses. highly entertaining.
i'll call you about the plan for tomorrow matt.

G4 is my favorite "go-to channel". Previously known as TechTV, that sounded to nerdy so they changed it to G4. Whereas the Carlos go-to channel is FSC or GOLTV, G4 has it all.

Whether it be the athletic prowess of all the ninja warrior contestants, the drama of "cheaters", the action of "cops", or the console/pc game reviews and information.

X-Play, Attack of the Show, and Cheat! are all the best block of Television. I could watch them all. I didn't mention this in the original blog because just mentioning that you watch G4 groups you with a certain sub-group of society, mainly the people who were lined up outside Gamestop on monday night from 9 to midnight waiting for the highly anticipated Halo3(which doesn't hold a candle to Goldeneye or mariokart)or World of Warcraft players.

In regards to "Deal or No Deal", I will reference the wise sage, Bill Simmons: "..it is like 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' for people with an IQ of 75..."

I'll take some suggestions above, as I need a sitcom to follow. Outside of sports, nascar, family guy, and episodes of "how its made" there is not much TV loyalty.

What makes me proud of you guys is that I had a conversation last week comparing Ninja Warrior to American Gladiators. Stage 1 and Stage 3 are the best episodes. I like stage 1 for halloween like pageantry of those failing to pass the first obstacle. Stage 3 is what Mens gymnastics really should be. Go to you tube now and search Shingo Yamamoto...he would kick Glazer's ass. Unless Glazer was actually Jon and Jon was on a steriod fueled rage armed with jelly filled munchkin doughnut holes.

gymnastics really should be ninja warrior, stage 3 is seriously close to impossible. and i love watching all people fall off of stuff on stage 1. especially the ones that pose and scream and stuff.
the new gladiators should have gladiators that are wwe big and fast. they need to make it ridiculously hard. and the obstacle course should totally copy ninja warrior.

Alright, ENOUGH is ENOUGH. I must put a stop to this maledictious spread in this blog about fainting fathers. Apparently SOME children have not yet learned/grasped the importance of POR (Point Of Reference).

If a father so chooses to sit down, however soft or hard, on whatever surface (hardwood floors or ceramic tiles), abruptly or slowly, that is HIS PREROGATIVE.

So stop spreading falsities and get your observations to be accurate; this father will not put up with lies as I'm dedicated to absolute reality.

Anonymous said...

...ahh..."dedicated to absolute reality"...yet equally adament about the importance of "reference points".

this seems to create a quandry as subjective individuals cannot always (ever) share the same point of reference...which would then imply that our ability to know absolute reality (objectively) is compromised.

rachel doesn't lie. and she is training to be a nurse. just admit, you fainted.

see you this weekend.

as a subjective individual i could get on board with either of the above points of reference if they were at all tennable. since they lack tennability my point of reference is outside what would normally be catagrized as a logically sound conclusion.

however, due to the severity and importance of the aformentioned event im forced to draw a logical syllogism: we all know that nothing is better than being tennable, and that having a point of reference is better than nothing, so i have no choice but to conclude that having a point of reference is better than being tennable.

yet this is not what i truly believe. which brings up the point of things being true even if you dont believe in them or cant prove that they even exist. like electricity, light, God and the absolute reality of fathers sitting/fainting on various types of hard surfaces.

in todays academia one only need come up with an original point of reference to be considered noteworthy. to choose, to make up ones own way, regardless of merit or plausibility has overrcome truth and tennability.

the fact that rachel doesnt lie and that shes becoming a nurse are mutually exclusive. or maybe its true that all nurses named rachel dont lie. or just simply all nurses. i know the latter not to be true from personal experience, so if rachel is a nurse she may be capable of lying because ive been lied to by a nurse in the past. but how can we prove anything to anybody through only personal experience. one has to have a nurse actually lie to them before they can really believe that the "all nurses dont lie" statement is false. as for lying rachels, ive never been lied to by a rachel, but id bet theres one out there lying her ass off. yet since ive never been lied to by a rachel i must conclude that all rachels are truth tellers and that carlos fainted. its logically sound and not true at the same time. or something like that. inconcievable!

How do you KNOW you've never been lied to by a Rachel? Mwahahahaha.

i did like it better when we were talking about donuts and american gladiators. but all of the above comments do address points brought up in joff's post.

I'm confus-ed...we begin the blog with discussion about "Heroes-Season 2" and we end with discussion about a narcaleptic gladiator with the IQ of a fifth grader who has the superpower to choose the right suitcase, but only when Hillbilly's from Arkansas are uni-browed sportscasters on ESPN? Where did it all go wrong?!?!

As much as I hate adding comments to this blog...

It sounds to me, Neal, that you basically just instructed your groomsmen to show up in CR with moes. Does Angie know about this? Personally, I think Tom Selleck is hot, but I can't convince Jon to try it.
