The Classic
This is the classic I look. You have the three seater on the wall facing the TV and the loveseat on the other wall with the ottoman in the middle. Notice that the "no armrests" on the large piece. It could be a downfall to the model. I don't know what else can be said about this since this model has existed since the wall came down.
The Classic 2.0
The Carlos Special
The Carlos Special is a chase lounge on the far wall alllowing him to recline or sit up while watching FSC. It has an additional loveseat on the TV watching wall and a small chair that you see my feet coming from. The reason for the name of this model is because it s built around one person being able to watch soccer, other than that it sucks.
The Neo-Classic
This is basically the classic flipped. We put the loveseat with ottoman on the TV wall and we put the monster couch on the far wall. It should be noted that the neo-classic really opens up the room and is a great model for entertaining.
The Reconciler
The Monster
Two guesses at whose brainchild this was. The Monster is pure comfort. It takes up lots of space and if you have personal space issues more than 3 people on it will make you nervous. It would be interesting if you could buy a few more pieces and make it an even bigger monster. Since some members of the family wouldn't go for Love Sacks I doubt they would go for this.
Update
Update
The current set up at the House of I, is a combination. It has the two piece (with armrests) loveseat against the TV wall with ottoman, The safron lounge exactly as seen in the classic 2.0 and one piece of the reconciler (where the wine cabinet used to be.

brilliant post.
I will withhold voting until I can see in person...
inspiring post though JOFF...you should be proud.

The Monster is by far the most superior of couchly configurations.
i couldnt agree with the monster more. i vote to extend the current set up and if youre looking to add a little more pizzaz, look no further than my basement where i still posses one of the original majic couches, there might be a little saw dust in it now since im finishing my basement, but what it lacks in ambiance and style it more than makes up for in comfort, reliability and historical performance.
the new set up called "the monster reborn" finds the majic berber wedged up against the new leather in a yin and yang juxtaposition between the new and old, the past and present, the once discarded and the highly sought after.
a victory for the monster reborn includes a waived destination tax and new scotchguard. (we dont even know what that does, except apparently you can pee and bleed all over your couch, if you were so inclined, without worry of permanent stain)
before you cast your vote, its important to note that the monster reborn only goes well with a second flat screen to mirror its origional on the wall of the stairs. instalation of said screen is sure to be followed by hours and hours of carlos running wires throughout the basement and attic, all the time saying things like isha pasensia, si a la darecha and guacamole.
Mateus, sabes cual es la diferensa entre un comentario y un blog?
el deletreo correcto es:
"Haja paciencia que aguente tal frustracao meu Deus do ceu"
i too must wait to pass judgement until i can view the space in person. i will say that i think the classic 2.0 is the early favorite. although the reconciler and the monster are intriguing options.
btw, a full costa rica trip post is coming soon. complete with pictures, lots of inside jokes, and more spanish nonsense.
Sunday after thanksgiving:
coffee/dinner/furniture party at 407 PC. Shan and I will be arriving around 4 or 5 pm (hopefully).
Be there or be a rhombus.
a wise man once said that. I heard that he collects couches in his basement now...
