ESPN News sucks

Finally Xavi Has Come Back... To Bloggy!

So, enough baby stuff we are going to be moving back to the things that got us to where we are, the things that brought 20 comment posts, and the things that confused all our readers.

Anyway, I thought I would begin by giving you a few links to check out:

Showbiz Pizza Band Losing Their Innocence

Karate Kid Memories

Does anyone else think Ralph Macchio looks strangely like Jeremy at the end of that video or was it just me.

So, to catch people up we will find out about our child's sex at the end of this month and then a new blog will join the ever expanding network. But I am puzzled by whose blog is what? Whose blog is ESPN2 that is filled with nonsense shows of reporters yelling at each other and the second tier sporting events? Whose blog is ESPN Deportes that is all soccer and Spanish centric athletes? Whose blog is ESPNU that cover the obscure and odd college sports that football and basketball pay for? And lastly whose blog is ESPN News which is just a terrible terrible channel, do we really need Sportscenter 24 hours a day? These are the things that plague my mind...

Which leads to a second thought, Amie and I have begun house hunting and while the DIY network and HGTV are very helpful they don't answer the pressing questions...the real questions people need to ask when they are looking for a home. For instance, are the streets the right size (not to wide, not to narrow) so that salsa bag explosion will provide maximum tire coverage? Are there multiple routes of escape in the instance that a car stops after having a dirt clod hit it? Is the yard level enough for a game of round the house crouqet? These are the questions that I need answered.

In other news I attend the Live Off the Levee: O.A.R. concert with my wife and some friends. It was a nice evening in the middle of the Lou, probably one of the most recent times that a crowd that size of people under 40 has been downtown in quite some time. There was plenty of finger pointing and head nodding going around...and the beverage line gave the O'Fallon freedom fest a run for its money. The highlight of the night was quite possibly the walk back to the car.

The area we parked in was full of other people parking when we went down, but we waited a bit to let the crowds thin out and by the time we were walking back to the car it was very much like a movie where the white couple is walking down abandoned streets and the psycho was going to pop out and take us. But we made it safely back to the car and we got home without a problem.

Also this month JC00, or whatever he calls himself, is on lots of missions and will be in and out of the area multiple times...that means multiple house project/cleanings and perhaps some gardening. For those unaware, Carlos thinks that the only weed is crabgrass and therefore lets everything grow claiming it is a fractal but if you check that link you will be made aware of what a fractal truly is...it isn't just letting everything grow and calling it a fractal (and yes I am aware that Carlos will respond to these musings(and yes i am aware it will probably be the first comment)).

We are having a super awesome garage sale on saturday, so be sure to stop by and we will cut you a deal!

I will leave actual comments in the SECOND post...it's almost as if the first post is not from los it doesn't mean anything.

I believe you will be having a girl, Joff. I think your legacy of terrorizing residential streets will live on nonetheless. Did anyone ride their cooler through the streets of downtown STL?

Everyone knows that the most important feature of a house is the width of the hallways. The walls must be close enough together for climbing. No pictures should be hung on the wall in your hall, unless you're okay with it getting knocked off. And it's been definitively proven that dirty footprints will in fact, come off of the walls (not at all like diarrhea, which has been shown to leave a permanent stain on the carpet).

Speaking of the house cleaning activities of today...I hereby vow that no child of mine will ever own a collection of cards featuring any athlete, cartoon, or Marvel comic book character. As much fun as it might be for the child at the time, later there will huge heavy boxes full of useless scraps of paper/cardboard hybrid that no one wants to throw away because "they might be worth something."

I also have a cunning plan for anytime my child wins a trophy, ribbon, medal, plaque, or various other award. I'm going to tell my kids that we are donating said awards to poor children in the inner city who don't have the opportunity to win such things. And then I'm going to throw the worthless, dust-collecting item into the trash. That way, nobody ends up with 50+ trophies, and two giant boxes of ribbons and medals in their storage room 20 years later that they feel too guilty to throw away.

And I'm in agreement with my brother about the garden. I would like someone to tell me the difference between a 'wildflower' and a 'weed' please.

the rockafire explosion singing usher is tremendous, it actually makes me like that song. the rap at the end is simply mind blowing. great stuff xavi. too much to comment on at this time though.

JC 00 is on a mssion in a remote location with imitted ces to safe communications channels; ergo the slip from being first...

Fundamental question; did God created weeds? if so did he not call everything he created good?

Fractals shall be addressed when Ls has some safe channels.....

so much to comment on. here we go:

-the ESPN analogy is only an analogy...and all analogies eventually break down...don't try to take it too far.

-housing questions: this is an interesting point. everyone says the standards, check the AC unit, roof, windows, etc...but what about the way the sun hits the house (where will there be sun rays that I can lay in?), or whether or not the sirens that ring the first weds of every month are particularly loud here, OR are there enough power sockets in strategic locations...

-OAR = walking back to the car sounds like that 90's movie with Jeremy Piven and Cuba Gooding, Jr who go out in an RV for a bachelor party and end up getting killed by some urban gang blah blah blah. that movie had a good soundtrack but haunted me for like 3 years...

-the fractal vs. weed debate taking place at #407 sounds funny.

-racher's musings about narrow hallways was funny. but true.

-operation garage sale '08 sounds funny too. you guys should take pictures of the process. before storage room clean out, after cleanout, set up on driveway/garage, etc. etc...we should have a running diary of saturdays events.

-another blog idea that xavi and I talked about was some sort of "Facebook etiquette" documentation...this needs to happen. maybe we will blog about this so I'll save my thoughts...

-rapping pizza hut group: I am getting old. I just don't get it. it is odd.

-Ralph Macchio is Jar = no comment.

Here's some research reading for the Facebook etiquette post:

how dare you sir. the rockafire explosion played exclusively at showbiz and chuck e cheese. there is truly nothing like the combination of their music, mediocore pizza, and skeeball. and you better get ready to get reacquainted with it as sparky is probably going to want to go there.
GET JACKSON INTO CAMP!!JEEZ!!!TAKE A BREAK!!!!

I agree with Pizza Hut?! It is the Shobiz band get it right. Pizza Hut is where we went to play slightly entertaining arcade games and eat excellent breadsticks.

Also, the movie you are referring to is Judgement Night with the great Emilio Estevez...better known for his work in the award winning Mighty Ducks trilogy.

I am not taking any pictures of storage room purge 08... that would just add more stress and work (and that way you can't tell if we sell any of your stuff, not like you could remember what is down there anyway).HAHAHA

Also, there were no gas powered coolers downtown...they didn't let any liquid at all inside the "venue". It was like a prison. We left our bottled water for the bums of Saint Louis. ITS GONNA COST PEOPLE JOBS!!! STEVEN JACKSON STAY OFF THE FANS!!! Take a break!

When you have a nice big level back yard, you have a nice long level afternoon mowing when it's 100. The idea is to have a friend with a nice big yard and maybe a pond and a makeout gazebo so you can have a big yard vicariously through him. Just accept that you won't be around said friend during the fall when leaves are plentiful or when that big yard needs mowing.

Steven Jackson is not in camp because the atmosphere is lousy, the music sucks, the fans are all Packers fans and those Lutherans don't know when to sit down or stand up.

showbiz schmo-biz...whatever schmetever...that was my point. i'm old.

what's up with SHOUTING MESSAGES?!!!! at the end of comments?

and how did GARAGE SALE 08 end up?

Anonymous said...

does getting old mean you lose your sense of humor? i hope not. the rockafire explosion singing pop songs of today is hiliarious. i won't disagree that it's odd, but it's really funny.

the shouting messages at the end of our comments are a tribute to our favorite sports radio morning show. i believe we have referenced them before. they like to make fun of more traditional "tough & cool" sports radio hosts. "angry for no reason sports radio guy" is always funny(KYLE LOESHE SHOULD BE SIGNED BY NOW!!!JEEZ!! TAKE A BREAK!) just like driving a cooler around is always funny.

also, joff is totally having a boy, i should make something out of all of my old swimming ribbons (if they weren't "sold"), judgement night sucks, if i have my way i'll never have any yard to mow, and sparky's dad does kind of resemble the karate kid.

I finally got to read the referenced Fractal site, and why isn't my wild flower garden not a fractal whn words such as bellow are defining fractal in the link provided by the ESPN reporter?

"It is too irregular to be easily described in traditional Euclidean geometric language"

"fractals are often considered to be infinitely complex (in informal terms). Natural objects that approximate fractals to a degree include clouds, mountain ranges, lightning bolts, coastlines, and snow flakes"

I think some people do not understand what they read or they just skim read...
