An Important Public Service Announcement- Donut Holes to Make Triumphant Return
This is a short public service announcement sure to bring hope to the hearts and minds of St. Charles area residents and visitors alike. The latest insider information we have pertains to the creation of a Community Center right here in the Chuck. While there can be no real replacement for the gem of a YMCA that we have, the best news is not in the workout facility or pool or whatever blah blah blah. The REAL story here is that the plans include the addition of a DUNKIN' DONUTS that will be ON SITE. Unbelievable I know. For those of us who have mourned the demise of a childhood institution and the scant availability of real donut holes, this is an honest reason for rejoicing. The news states that the convention center will be built at the current site of Chuck E Cheese and the defunct K-Mart and Big Lots (which may be the worst retail establishment ever). Fear not, plans are to relocate the Chuck E Cheese nearby. With no disrespect to our fond memories of cheap pizza and skee-ball, Chuck E Cheese never measured up to Showbiz and it has become a glorified Wal Mart lobby with 25 cent helicopter rides and bacteria ladened ball pits the only attraction for toddlers. And, for those who have not been to a modern Dunkin Donuts in recent years cannot begin to understand what we have been missing in the Lou since the last one (?) in Des Peres closed some time ago. We patronized one last fall in Philly before tailgating at a Penn State game and it has evolved into the best things that any breakfast establishment could offer. If you could imagine the Dunkin of old merged with STL Breadco (or Panera for non-St. Louisans), Starbucks and Jack in the Box. Same great donuts, good coffee, acceptable bagel selection and even greasy breakfast sandwiches for the morning after a bender. If this fantasy come true pans out, MGW will be longing for the pad at Sun Valley Lake and we will mourn having lived mere feet from this glorious new addition to our community. We will stay tuned to developments as they unfold...a new day has dawned for the Chuck.

YES!!!!!!IN THE FACE!! sorry i was just screaming at my tv.
this is tremendous news. we were in chicago for the annual iwaszkowiec family picnic this weekdend and i enjoyed a chocolate cake donut and a large cup of the famous dunkin donuts coffee. it was fantastic. i can't wait for the truimphant return to st. louis.
that race was absolutely amazing...the FRENCH anchor guy is still in the pool. he doesn't know what just happened...(also, how can 5 or 6 teams break the world record in the one event at one time?)
and swimmer celebrations are funny. they should practice celebrating together.
andrea kramer interviewing the swimmers is tragic though...I mean terrible. how can we come up with the dumbest questions and then ask the swimmers? sound good?
andrea kramer is better than rowdy gaines. and it's too bad the spanish soccer announcers can't just call everything. they make everything better. i'd even settle for the british guys and their tremendously witty quips.
it's a real shame that the french guys are gonna have to listen to the us national anthem. phelps and co. should have just pushed them into the pool. they probably would have drowned because they were so shocked at what just happened.
australians are always happy though. it's hard not to like them.
is "ZIM" = south africa? I'm confused???
also, how can Michael Phelps beat everyone else by 2 seconds in the 200 free? how is that possible?
(and shannon wants to know why ALL the swimmers seem to be going insanely fast???? is it the pool, technology advances in suits, weight training, or roids? or maybe a combo of all?)
"zim" = zimbabwe, but i'm pretty sure it really means university of georgia because i think that's where that girl trains. just like south africa = tuscon, arizona.
phelps can beat everyone else by 2 seconds because he is simply that good. people need to forget the whole spitz thing because phelps is on a whole other level. he basically wasn't really tapered at trials (which is nuts) and still broke world records. it's pretty clear that he hit his taper for this meet perfectly.
as for everyone swimming really fast, the factors are numerous. the new suits are making a big difference. the pool is a FAST pool, especially compared to athens (i don't really want to go into what makes a pool fast but the short version is athens = shallow, outdoors, slow and bejing = deep, indoors, really fast). also, many of the swimmers can now be "professional swimmers" and they can train longer and better. but mostly it's the olympics, which is the biggest stage there is for swimming. if you can't get excited and swim super fast at the olympics, you shouldn't be there.
btw, i'm still excited about dunkin donuts.
(oh, and in my first comment i meant french, not frech. i was excited and typing fast.)
oops, apparently zimbabwe = auburn. i knew it was an sec school.
Zimbabawe = yeah...well, that is what I originally thought, but then didn't...not sure why. mostly because that girl is white and talked like a south african. I guess I need to read about african history more.
favorite quote about Michael Phelps: "He's not from another planet. He's from the future, and his father sent him back in a time machine. Sixty years from now, he's only an average swimmer, but he's sent him back here to mop up." (british freestyler Simon Burnett).
poor guy.
fast pools = yeah yeah...I still have doubts...records are being SMASHED, that were just set not long ago (that is the short span view)....long term, look at the evolution of swimming over the past 50 years...it is like whole minutes have fallen off times. I wonder what the analysis would be if we looked at track time evolution over the last 100 years as well. have those times continued to fall at a similar pace/rate/proportion/etc?
anyway, I'm just saying, these swimmers are ALL swimming fast. and michael phelps is blowing them away...
that's an awesome quote about phelps. lots of records are being broken and the new suits are having a HUGE impact. combine that with a fast pool and the fact that records usually get broken at the olympics and this is the result.
as for phelps, this isn't the first time he's done something like this. phelps shows up and destroys big meets (world championships and olympics), he's been doing it since 2001. but he's been aimed at THIS meet since 2000. in fact "the most annoying tv analyst ever" (rowdy gaines) basically predicted this in athens.
if you're implying that something "fishy" is going on, it's certainly possible. cough french relay cough. but phelps gets tested after every single race, and this has gone on for the last 8 years. i'm not as suspicious of him as i am of certain 40 year old sprinters.
that french freestyle dude is HUGE. I mean MASSIVE. speaking of which, why aren't more swimmers "cut"? I mean, I know they are super strong and muscular, but their muscles are "cut up" if you know what I mean...
rowdy is starting to wear on me.
I meant "aren't cut up"
